Agatha Ruiz de la Prada

Agatha Ruiz de la Prada (Madrid, 1960) is one of the most renowned figures in Spanish fashion and a key icon of the Movida Madrileña cultural movement. Her bold, colorful, and timeless aesthetic has made her an international reference in contemporary design. She debuted in Madrid in 1981, launching a career spanning more than four decades and building a distinctive creative universe. Since then, she has presented her collections in over fifty cities worldwide.

Her work transcends fashion and enters the realm of art, with exhibitions and collaborations that reinforce her vision of fashion as a universal creative language. Her signature imagery — hearts, stars, and vibrant colors — has become a global symbol of optimism. Since 1986, she has developed more than one hundred products and projects, expanding her identity across multiple disciplines.

Her career has been recognized with major awards, including the Gold Medal for Merit in Fine Arts (2009) and the National Fashion Design Award (2017). In 2011, she founded the Agatha Ruiz de la Prada Foundation to preserve and promote her extensive creative legacy.

Agatha continues to be a symbol of creativity, color, and innovation, and one of the most influential and forward-thinking voices in contemporary Spanish design.

Meninas overboard!

Agatha Ruiz de la Prada presents a collection that plays with perception, the body, and color.

This year, the proposal carries no title beyond its own name: AGATHA RUIZ DE LA PRADA. Because when identity is that strong, the name says it all.

The collection revolves around a second-skin effect. Swimsuits visually blend with the body, creating the illusion of transparency. Against this almost invisible base, the house’s most recognizable icons, hearts, flowers, stars, burst forth in vibrant, contrasting colors, as if they were drawn directly onto the skin.

The result is a bold and playful optical illusion: pieces that seem to disappear while the symbols float freely, turning the body into a canvas and fashion into a graphic statement.

True to her creative universe, Agatha transforms apparent minimalism into a chromatic explosion. The simplicity of the skin tone further enhances the power of color, in a proposal that celebrates identity, joy, and freedom of expression.
