“Gran Canaria: A Fashion Destination” strengthens the partnership between fashion, audiovisual production, and regional branding

The second edition of the International Producers' Reverse Mission solidifies the island's position as a creative hub for fashion, music, and global advertising

Gran Canaria, October 24, 2025. The second edition of the “Gran Canaria Fashion Destination” International Production Companies Reverse Mission, held as part of Gran Canaria Swim Week (GCSW), has strengthened the island’s position as a leading destination for audiovisual production, fashion, and music content.

The program, organized by the Cabildo of Gran Canaria, through the Department of Economic Development, Industry, Commerce, and Crafts and the Gran Canaria Economic Promotion Society (SPEGC), in collaboration with the Gran Canaria Film Commission and the Gran Canaria Chamber of Commerce, brought together nine international production companies and seven local firms at a high-level professional meeting aimed at generating business and attracting film shoots to the island.

Following the success of the first edition in 2024, which resulted in contracts for fashion productions and the creation of lasting professional ties, this second edition expanded its guest strategy, incorporating brand consultants and representatives from the music industry to diversify audiovisual investment opportunities.

Minerva Alonso, the Regional Minister of Economic Development, highlighted the significance of this development: “Gran Canaria offers not only filming locations and tax incentives, but also a strong brand identity and an audiovisual ecosystem capable of attracting international productions in fashion, advertising, and music. This second edition demonstrates that we are a competitive filming destination with the capacity to generate real economic returns.”

The mission’s agenda was structured around three main highlights: attending the Gran Canaria Swim Week fashion shows, which allowed production companies to discover the island’s aesthetic and branding potential; an intensive famtrip to iconic locations such as Sioux City, the Arinaga Lighthouse, Vegueta, and the Maspalomas Dunes, designed to showcase the diversity of natural settings; and a business meeting with the local industry, held at ExpoMeloneras, which included an official welcome from the regional minister, presentations by the Gran Canaria Film Commission, and B2B meetings between Canarian companies and invited production companies.

Among the participating local companies were leading names in the audiovisual sector such as Pop House, Magnetic Film Creations, Islas Producciones, Chocolatex, Lucky Islands, Shoot Canarias, Seven Island Film, Macaronesia Films, and WTF Studio. Invited international companies included prominent names such as Dogma Moda, Fermin & Gilles, Rebolución, Seven Senses, Make It Cute, Norgay Consultants, and Warner Music Spain, among others.

“The diversity of profiles we’ve brought together this year—photographers, producers, stylists, brand consultants, and record label executives— has allowed us to position Gran Canaria as a global set that transcends fashion, extending into the worlds of music and advertising as well,” Alonso emphasized.

To support this initiative, the Gran Canaria Chamber of Commerce, SPEGC, and the Gran Canaria Film Commission developed a strategic presentation dossier, which includes a visual gallery of locations, information on local audiovisual services, and key data on the island’s tax incentives, climate, and connectivity. Additionally, at the conclusion of the program, participating production companies were invited to complete an evaluation questionnaire to measure the initiative’s impact and guide future editions.

With this initiative, “Gran Canaria Destino de Moda” consolidates its position as a professional platform for attracting audiovisual investment and strengthens the synergy between the fashion sector, audiovisual production, and regional branding. The initiative is part of SPEGC’s strategy to drive the island’s economic diversification, promote creative employment, and position Gran Canaria as an international destination for film shoots and content production.
