Gran Canaria Swim Week connects talent and the market as it establishes itself as an international business platform

2025-10-24

Nearly 50 buyers from nine countries participated in B2B meetings at the showroom, which helps strengthen ties between brands and key European markets

Gran Canaria, October 23, 2025. Gran Canaria Swim Week (GCSW) has solidified its role as an international business platform in this latest edition, increasing the visibility of participating brands and strengthening commercial ties between Gran Canaria and the most relevant European markets in the fashion sector. This initiative, as well as all those related to international outreach, is coordinated in collaboration with the Gran Canaria Chamber of Commerce.

The international buyer showroom has become one of the most significant side events of this fair due to its focus on commerce and internationalization. This space brought together 40 buyers from nine countries—Germany, Austria, Denmark, Sweden, Italy, Turkey, Portugal, Spain, and Cyprus—along with representatives from the leading European fashion institutions and the Strategic Alliances program.

Over the course of two days, international industry professionals held one-on-one meetings with 23 brands participating in the fashion show, including Joana Michaela, Alexandra Miro, Victoria Cimadevilla, Macaed, Mare Far Niente, Palmas, Bohodot, Danward, Miss Bikini Luxe, Arantxa Arenas Design, Gisela, Mommy Loves, and Melissa Odabash.

The showroom, designed as a B2B space in the runway’s backstage area, enabled direct business contacts to be established and opportunities for distribution and collaboration to be explored between the participating brands and international buyers.

In addition, institutional representatives from six entities linked to GCSW’s strategic alliances attended, including the Fashion Councils of Germany and the Czech Republic, the Association of Spanish Fashion Designers (ACME) — represented by Modesto Lomba and Pepa Bueno—and White Milán, represented by Simona Severini and Raffaella Imo.

Minerva Alonso, the Gran Canaria Island Council’s Minister of Economic Development, Trade, Industry, and Crafts, emphasized the importance of this networking space as an essential step in promoting the event internationally. “The International Buyers’ Showroom is the most business-oriented aspect of Gran Canaria Swim Week. It allows us to transform the visibility of the runway shows into real business opportunities for our brands and to strengthen the island’s connection with the European market,” she stated.

Alonso also highlighted the strategic value of international participation: “ Every meeting, every contact, contributes to positioning Gran Canaria as a benchmark for swimwear and resort fashion—a destination that combines creativity, professionalism, and an unparalleled environment for the development of the fashion industry.”

International buyers were provided with a personalized program, access passes, logistical support, and side events to facilitate their interaction with local designers and brands, as well as to immerse them in the full Gran Canaria Swim Week experience. In addition, each group was led by an expert from the industry and the country, who provided support not only during their visit but will continue to do so after their trip to Gran Canaria. Furthermore, emphasis was placed on streaming the runway show for those professionals who were unable to travel to the island.
