Rocío Crusset returns to the catwalks as part of Gran Canaria Swim Week 2026

2026-06-25

  • Maldito Sweet, Gogana, Alexandra Miro and Agatha Ruiz de la Prada are the brands kicking off the first day of Gran Canaria Swim Week 2026
  • Perchel Beach Club makes its debut as the outdoor venue for the opening of GCSW

The first day of Gran Canaria Swim Week kicked off, for the first time, at the Perchel Beach Club’s outdoor venue, which had been transformed into a unique setting to launch this new edition.

The president of the Gran Canaria Island Council, Antonio Morales, opened the day by posing for an official photograph alongside leading local models, including Claudia González, Lucia Mateo, Stella Ripper, Marina García and Sarah Khulman, thereby showcasing local talent right from the very start of the event.

In this context, Morales emphasised that “Gran Canaria Swim Week represents our island’s ability to transform talent, creativity and our unique landscapes into a tool for international exposure. Today, this catwalk is one of the best showcases for presenting to the world an innovative, open Gran Canaria that sets the standard in the swimwear industry”.

Furthermore, the island’s chief executive stressed that “holding this event in such a unique setting as Perchel Beach Club demonstrates how we are able to integrate fashion, tourism, landscape and the economy into a single project. Gran Canaria Swim Week creates opportunities for our businesses, strengthens our international image and helps position the island as a leading destination for hosting major international events”.

For her part, Minerva Alonso, Minister for Economic Development, stated that “this event is much more than just a catwalk show. It is a platform for business and internationalisation for our companies, connecting firms with buyers, specialist media and industry leaders, and creating real opportunities to continue strengthening the economy linked to fashion and creativity in Gran Canaria. This is precisely why the packed professional programme running alongside the fashion shows is so important, featuring strategic meetings and working sessions with buyers, industry professionals and representatives from some of the leading international fashion organisations, which help to open up new avenues for collaboration and growth for our brands”.

First day of fashion shows

Maldito Sweet (Gran Canaria, Spain), Gogana (Seville, Spain), Alexandra Miro (United Kingdom) and designer Agatha Ruiz de la Prada (Madrid, Spain) were the leading brands on the first day of the Gran Canaria Swim Week fashion shows, where they unveiled their swimwear collections for the Spring/Summer 2027 season.

The first brand to open this new edition of GCSW was the Canary Islands-based Maldito Sweet with its Maldito Crucero collection, a reinterpretation of nautical imagery through a contemporary, sophisticated lens featuring clean lines. And it does so with a unique selling point: the collection went on sale immediately after the fashion show, a move that brings luxury to the customer in real time. With a timeless palette of black, khaki and white, the collection evokes travel as a way of life through a understated, refined femininity that blends with the sea in every silhouette.

Next up was the Seville-based brand Gogana, presenting its latest collection, BAHÍA, which pays homage to its origins, combining the elegance of southern Spain with the energy and light of Brazil. The collection is characterised by clean lines, meticulous construction that enhances the silhouette, and a colour palette with great visual impact. These pieces are designed to let you enjoy the beach in comfort and sophistication. The collection features a detail that rounds off the collection: the accessories are provided by the Canarian brand María Secretos, adding that artisanal, Atlantic touch that connects both shores.

The afternoon continued with a show by British designer Alexandra Miro, who returns to the Canarian catwalk to present her new collection, structured around two distinct lines. SOLARIS celebrates femininity through the warmth of summer days, balancing craftsmanship with relaxed sophistication via silks, sensual textures and luminous shades that evoke sunsets and coastal getaways. The second line, HIGH SUMMER, captures the romantic energy of summer through soft tailoring and light silhouettes. It combines floral motifs, delicate embellishments and ornamental prints inspired by Mediterranean craftsmanship, blending sun-bleached neutrals with striking splashes of colour.

And to round off the opening day of the GCSW, one of the great icons of Spanish fashion, Agatha Ruiz de la Prada. The designer returns to the Canarian catwalk to present her new eponymous collection, featuring a bold optical illusion based on a skin-like effect. The swimwear creates an illusion of transparency, against which the brand’s iconic symbols burst forth in vibrant hues, as if floating and drawn directly onto the body. The result transforms minimalism into a graphic explosion brimming with character.

Gran Canaria Swim Week debuts a new outdoor venue

This year, the first day of the fashion shows took place in a stunning setting in the south of Gran Canaria: the outdoor area of Perchel Beach Club, a venue overlooking the sea that serves as the perfect meeting point between fashion and the landscape. The catwalk, the only open-air one at Gran Canaria Swim Week, served as the starting point for this new edition, showcasing the island’s natural beauty and unique landscape. But the day did not begin with the first designs; rather, in the morning, before the show, Coco Constans (@ffitcoco) led a session of her Fittcoco class there, aimed at the catwalk models and various content creators.

In this setting overlooking the Atlantic, the brands presented their swimwear collections in an environment that blends the vastness of the ocean with an infinity pool, creating an atmosphere that is as visually striking as it is evocative. Journalists, fashion influencers and well-known faces made their way to this coastal spot, drawn by the exclusivity of a setting that few catwalks can offer.

The day concluded with a cocktail reception by the sea, providing the perfect finishing touch to an evening where the landscape complemented the concept of each collection, cementing this southern location as one of the finest possible showcases to kick off Gran Canaria Swim Week in style.
