Gran Canaria Swim Week’s second day brings together island fashion labels, national brands and international talent

Gran Canaria, 25 June 2026. The second day of Gran Canaria Swim Week began this Thursday at the ExpoMeloneras Conference Centre, the epicentre of swimwear fashion in every edition. On this occasion, the event once again features the fashion labels promoted by several island councils through their respective programmes: the Cabildo of La Palma, with Isla Bonita Moda; the Cabildo of Tenerife, with Tenerife Moda; and the Cabildo of Lanzarote. They are joined for the first time by the Cabildo of La Gomera, making its debut on this international runway for design and creativity linked to the textile and swimwear fashion sector.

Isla Bonita Moda from La Palma, Spain; Macaronesia from Lanzarote, Spain; Ananas Wear from La Gomera, Spain; Waiola from Tenerife, Spain; Bohodot from Barcelona, Spain; Elena Morales from Gran Canaria, Spain; Dolores Cortés from Valencia, Spain; Nuria González from Gran Canaria, Spain; and Dan Ward from Italy were the leading brands on the second day of runway shows at Gran Canaria Swim Week, presenting their swimwear proposals for the Spring/Summer 2027 season.

Minerva Alonso, Councillor for Economic Development, Industry, Trade and Crafts of the Cabildo de Gran Canaria, stated: “This second day perfectly reflects the essence of Gran Canaria Swim Week as a platform for promoting talent and creativity. On the runway, we have seen proposals from designers and brands from Gran Canaria, La Palma, Lanzarote, Tenerife and La Gomera, alongside national and international labels that make this event a benchmark for swimwear fashion.”

The councillor added that “the quality and innovative capacity of the collections being presented these days demonstrate the strength of an industry with its own identity and major international projection. That is why the intense professional agenda accompanying the runway shows is so important, with meetings and working sessions involving buyers, specialised media and representatives of international fashion organisations, all helping to generate new opportunities for our brands.”

An international front row for the second day of GCSW

Valentina Ferrer returned to the Gran Canaria Swim Week runway to dazzle on the second day. An international figure in fashion and beauty, the Argentine model has a consolidated career on the catwalk and a community of millions of followers on Instagram, placing her among the most influential personalities on the international fashion scene.

Content creator and socialite Alba Díaz, accompanied by international fashion expert Hanan Besovic, known as @ideservecouture, became some of the key figures in the front row during the first day of shows at ExpoMeloneras. They were joined by content creators Paula Viana of The Backstage Talks and Canarian influencers Marta Ibrahim, Yaiza Mencia, Priscila Betancort, Amalia Fajardo, Paula Viana, Moisés Rivero and José León.

Second day of runway shows

The second day of Gran Canaria Swim Week opened with the most representative block of the archipelago, led by Isla Bonita Moda. The La Palma collective began its appearance on the runway with SOLAJERO, a proposal bringing together designer jewellery by Atelier El Tesoro and Sara Luis; leatherwork and traditional hatmaking by Juan Manuel Simón, Maru La Palma and Raquel Sanjuán; contemporary tailoring and design by Gohemm, Julia Brito, La Sereca and Rayco Plata; and conceptual swimwear by Shamelu and Xanalue.

Eleven brands and artisans weave together a collection that intertwines tradition, avant-garde and sustainability across three chromatic phases: the pastel tones of dawn, the volcanic greens and greys of midday, and the oranges, violets and blacks of sunset on the west coast.

Lanzarote brand Macaronesia, founded by Visi González, continued the Canarian legacy with its CALUFA SS27 collection, a tribute to the heat and sun of island summers. Guided by a philosophy of conscious production and recycled fabrics, the proposal presents versatile, fresh and timeless designs that move from the beach to everyday life. Its colourful prints of palm trees, tropical flowers and island landscapes convey the Atlantic soul and celebrate the joy of living by the sea.

Next came Ananas Wear, the La Gomera brand founded by Javier Aguilar, with Azarug, a collection inspired by the organic beauty of La Gomera and the landscapes of the Cedro forest. The proposal translates the island’s contrasts by combining the deep greens of humid vegetation with the dark elegance of volcanic rock and earth tones. Contemporary silhouettes and textures converse with the movement of the ocean and the Atlantic mist, using recycled fabrics and water-based dyes.

Waiola, a brand under the Tenerife Moda label and directed by Noemí Marcelino, presented POLAR GLOW, a collection inspired by the Arctic and by the Inuit people’s mystical vision of the northern lights. With minimalist pattern-making using lycra, tulle, neoprene and silk, the proposal translates light into movement across the body through two chromatic universes adorned with boreal stones. The collection completes its swimwear universe with summer garments and geometric, iridescent accessories.

The afternoon continued with Bohodot, the feminine, romantic and Mediterranean brand by Peque de Fortuny and Cristina Torras, presenting Somewhere Between, a collection inspired by the nostalgia of summer memories, inhabiting that subtle space between reality and dreams. Through motifs such as swans, starry skies, reflections on water and sailor stripes, the proposal combines shiny fabrics, soft tones and ethereal details. It is a celebration of the beauty of those moments that remain forever engraved in memory.

Gran Canaria designer Elena Morales, whose production is entirely local and who has been present at Gran Canaria Swim Week since 2019, followed with the presentation of La Costa, a collection that evokes the slow rhythm of summer. The proposal embraces minimalism through clean silhouettes and plain tones that seek purity of form. The collection expands its language with complementary activewear-inspired pieces, inviting wearers to inhabit their leisure time with simplicity and silent elegance.

Next, Dolores Cortés, the brand with more than seventy years of family tradition in swimwear fashion, presented MAASAI, a collection that celebrates travel and roots by adapting ethnic tradition to a contemporary aesthetic. Through geometric prints, abstract animal print and a palette of earth tones with touches of gradient lurex, the proposal sculpts versatile and confident silhouettes that transform swimwear into pure energy, attitude and movement.

The next to present her proposal was Nuria González, a benchmark in Canarian swimwear fashion and founding member of the Gran Canaria Moda Cálida label. With Regreso a Peyton Place, she reinterprets the aesthetics of the 1960s through the rebellious, free and carefree attitude of a decade that turned fashion into provocation. In collaboration with Nanaya Crochet, the proposal fuses original vintage fabrics with recycled materials in electric tones, recovering iconic silhouettes that prioritise functionality and freedom of movement.

To close this second day of the runway, the brand founded by Dan Ward, after more than 25 years designing for houses such as Hermès and Calvin Klein, presented Continuum, a collection that proposes a journey evolving with the light of the day, from dawn to midnight by the sea.

Through relaxed silhouettes, lightweight fabrics such as linen and a palette that moves from soft neutrals to deeper tones, the proposal for both men and women blurs the line between urban and beach style with instinctive elegance.

ExpoMeloneras consolidates its role as the venue for Gran Canaria Swim Week

In this edition, the runway, raised 50 centimetres above the floor and measuring 4 metres wide by 32 metres long, is conceived as a scenic route where fashion becomes an immersive experience. With capacity for 640 spectators, it offers a frontal view of the show in a contemporary and architectural setting, reinforced by metallic finishes on the runway, perimeter and front area.

LED technology is fully integrated into the structure through a 1 x 36 metre floor screen, a ceiling screen of the same dimensions and a 1 x 6.5 metre vertical screen, creating a continuous visual space that enhances the narrative of each collection.

The atmosphere is enriched by a technical design based on smoke, particles, lasers and dynamic spotlights, elements that bring depth, rhythm and texture to the space, enhancing both the garments and the movement of the models and turning each presentation into a high-impact sensory experience.

Sponsors and collaborators

The runway has the support of sixteen sponsoring brands, which have shown their unconditional backing for the fashion industry through their participation in this edition.

Iberia Express once again becomes the official airline of Gran Canaria Swim Week, with the aim of reaffirming its support for events that contribute to the island’s international projection, to its recognition as a meeting point for an industry such as fashion, and as an excellent destination for organising major events.

Audi Canarias returns as the official vehicle and strengthens a collaboration that brings together style, innovation and design. This alliance helps continue projecting the Canary Islands on the international stage.

INMODE, a global leader in innovative medical-aesthetic technology, joins Gran Canaria Swim Week as a sponsor, supporting excellence, beauty and avant-garde fashion. Its commitment to innovation and well-being reinforces the connection between aesthetics, confidence and style.

In addition, this year the runway is supported by ExpoMeloneras, RTVE, Perchel Beach Club, Paradisus Gran Canaria, Fund Grube, Oribe, RITUALS, Lillet, Royal Bliss, Fuze Tea, Heineken, Munchitos and Ipanema.
