Gran Canaria Swim Week positions itself once again as the global epicenter of swimwear fashion.

Gran Canaria, July 2, 2026.- Gran Canaria Swim Week bids farewell to an edition with such international and media exposure.
The catwalk, developed from June 24-27, has surpassed the 1.92 million views on social media, bringing together the leading firms, editors and trendsetters in the sector in an event that reinforces the island's position as a global benchmark for swimwear fashion.
Gran Canaria Swim Week(GCSW) brings its 2026 edition to a close, four days of shows have transformed the island into the international epicenter of swimwear fashion. The event, which  wicked off on June 24th in the enclave of Perchel Beach Club and continued until Saturday,


June 27th at the venue of Expomeloneras in Maspalomas.
In terms of communication, the 2025 edition already achieved an advertising value of 5.08 million euros, with more than 700 publications. The figures for 2026 point to surpassing these records, thanks to a media strategy that has been supported by publications such as Harper's
Bazaar, ELLE, Cosmopolitan, Women's Health o Forbes España and that, according to the latest available data, it has reached an audience of 275 million across print, television, online and radio publications.
The change of date for this 18th edition has allowed for better synchronization with industry calendars, resulting in a significant increase in participation from both key buyers and specialized media. This greater volume and quality of attendees has intensified busines interactions during the event, creating a more fertile ground for negotiation. Consequently, this influx of qualified contacts is directly reflected in the strengthening of long-term business relationships and a tangible increase in closed sales.

The closing ceremony, held at Expomeloneras, was presided over by the president of the Gran Canaria Island Council, Antonio Morales, and the Minister for Economic Development, Minerva Alonso who highlighted that this new edition of Gran Canaria Swim Week has once again established itself as a strategic platform for the island's economic development, combining the promotion of creative talent with the generation of business opportunities and the international projection of Gran Canaria. In this regard, he emphasized that the event "It reinforces the island's position as a benchmark for swimwear and resortwear fashion, while promoting the internationalization of our companies and designers, encouraging investment and contributing to diversifying the economy through a sector with enormous growth potential."She also highlighted the collaborative work of institutions, the business sector, and fashion professionals in making possible an edition that, once again, brought together buyers, specialized media, and international experts, consolidating Gran Canaria Swim Week as a top-tier showcase for local talent and a key tool for projecting the island's image in international markets.

A record-breaking edition in terms of participation and impact
Gran Canaria Swim Week 2026 has brought together in its program 41 signatures, 28 of them from the Canary Islands, this demonstrates the strong local business network and the institution's commitment to local talent. Over the four days, established brands such as Dolores
Cortés, Agatha Ruiz de la Prada, Women’secret, Chantelle, Melissa Odabash, Banana Moon, and Miss Bikini showcased their work alongside promising new designers like Sirago, Sandra Jaurrieta, Gianluca Urraso, and Lislo in the emerging designer category.
The catwalk has been graced by the presence of major figures from the national and international scene, including Aída Artiles, Valentina Ferrer, Rocío Crusset, Marta Torné, Alba Díaz, Hanan Besovic, Leonie Hanne and Ariadne Artiles, who have contributed their media presence to an event that has been closely followed by the main fashion editors of general and specialized publications, both national and international.

Recognition of talent
The jury, comprised of leading national and international figures in the fashion industry, has further solidified the prestige of the catwalk. It was made up of: Pepa Bueno, executive director of the Spanish Fashion Designers Association; Brenda Bellei, director of White Milan; Scott
Lipinski, CEO of the German Fashion Council; the fashion journalist Josie; Mario Antico, CEO de Mercedes-Benz Bucharest Fashion Week; Audrey Khew, from the British Fashion Council; the designer Modesto Race; Esther Garcia, creative director of GCSW; and Grisel Fernandez, international advisor to the Gran Canaria Chamber of Commerce. She participated as secretary of the jury Araceli Díaz, representing the Gran Canaria Island Council.
Chacho SVNRS won White Milano Award sponsored by Gran Canaria Island Council. This recognition boosts the firm's international profile and will allow it to participate with its own space in the next edition of White Milano, one of the leading international contemporary
fashion fairs, which will be held in September.
The Award for the Best Emerging Collection sponsored by Chamber of Commerce, was awarded to Sandra Jaurrieta in recognition of the talent and potential of the new generation of designers. An award worth 1,500 euros.
For their part,Camila CTGhas received the Award for Best Collection sponsored by Fundgrube for the quality, creativity, and innovation of their proposal. The award includes a prize of 3,000 euros.
These awards recognize the creativity, innovation, and commitment to sustainability that define the present and future of swimwear. The awards, created by the company Fibras Naturales Canarias, are made from a unique biodegradable filament, transformed from banana plantation waste, highlighting the company's commitment to the circular economy and sustainable technology.

Strategic alliances and work agenda
The event has also served as a platform to strengthen international alliances. During these days, the Island Council, in collaboration with the Gran Canaria Chamber of Commerce and within the framework of its internationalization plan, has held meetings with representatives of
the British Fashion Council, White Milan, the German Fashion Council, Bucharest Fashion Week, Lisbon Fashion Week and Copenhagen Fashion Fair. Meetings have also been held with the Association of Fashion Designers of Spain (ACME), Foundation of the Spanish Fashion Academy and Asier Labarga, director of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid. Councilor Minerva Alonso highlighted that this network of contacts"It helps to strengthen our positioning, expand collaboration opportunities and continue to boost the global reach of our Fashion Week."

Tourism, fashion and audiovisual media, united in a new strategic action
This agenda of parallel actions was completed with a professional meeting promoted by the Ministry of Economic Development through the Economic Promotion Society of Gran Canaria. This initiative, which has brought together top-tier national and international audiovisual production companies, aims to generate synergies between the fashion, tourism, and audiovisual sectors. It has helped to strengthen the  sland's position as a leading destination for filming, advertising campaigns, and international productions, solidifying Gran
Canaria's status as a strategic hub for the creative industry.

A showcase for local talent and diversity

The cast for this edition has been made up of 48 models, of which 21 are from the Canary Islands. This represents 38% local talent and 17 international talents from Germany, Brazil, the United States, Argentina, Colombia, the Dominican Republic, Poland, Norway, Ukraine, and
Venezuela. This commitment to diversity and global reach is a hallmark of GCSW.


Closing

After four days of fashion shows, networking and commercial activity, Gran Canaria Swim Week 2026 closes with the satisfaction of having surpassed its own records and having reaffirmed its position as the leading swimwear fashion show in Europe and an international benchmark.

The closing gala, which took place at 9:30 p.m. on Saturday the 27th at Expomeloneras, was the culmination of a week in which the island showcased creativity, innovation, and sustainability. The fashion shows could be followed live on the official website and social media channels—Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and LinkedIn—using the hashtags GranCanariaSwimWeek2026 and GranCanariaSwimWeek.
