The high quality designs of the established firms are very well received at the Bridal Collection fashion show for weddings and special occasions

2017-10-07

This Saturday, the established firms took over the catwalk of the Gran Canaria Bridal Collection for weddings and special occasions. Minerva Alonso, the Councillor for Commerce and Industry of the Cabildo, emphasised the fact that, for yet another year, fashion experts from Gran Canaria and those who had been invited from other islands were not disappointed.

The group of established designers began with the parade of Juan Carlos Armas, from Tenerife, who exhibited his collection entitled ‘Frida’, which is full of femininity and elegance, half way between prêt-à-porter and haute couture, with carefully studied, sober and sophisticated designs.

Armas plays with volume, contrast and overlays to present dazzling combinations full of details such as lace and embossed, embroidered flowers, lending richness and exclusivity to his designs, which are made from high quality materials in powdery, soft-tone colours like nude and pink without forgetting gold, silver and red.

He was followed by Oswaldo Machín, from Lanzarote, and his bridal wear collection ‘Spirit’, which goes for a clear and sophisticated style with a boho-chic look, perfectly combining the elegance and comfort brides want for their big day.

The Lanzarote designer presented 20 garments with boat necklines, V-shaped and round-necked, mermaid-style lines to highlight women’s curves and embroidered elaborate garments in delicate tulle for women. He dresses men in matte fabrics of contemporary designs, combining shiny morning coats with sober dinner jackets.

The designer Lucas Balboa of the Gran Canaria Moda Cálida programme then took the floor with his careful selection of classic cuts for men, English style, with wide lapels and tailored yet comfortable.

Balboa presented different types of frock coats, from the traditional to the semi-coat, as well as front cut jackets and classic tailcoats in a wide range of colours, mostly blue, silver, smoky grey and of course the sober and always perfect black.

The last of the evening’s parades was that of Aurelia Gil, who took part, together with the firm Roes, in a game of aesthetics developed through dresses of vintage cut, more rural and romantic styles, sophisticated designs and other garments of a more versatile nature.

The Gran Canarian designer gets her inspiration from the fashion of the 20s and 30s of the last century, giving rise to a feminine collection which is elegant yet comfortable and undeniably timeless.

The Bridal Collection fashion show will continue this Sunday with the children’s wear firms during the morning and the trade fair located in the Parque Doramas park until 6 pm.
