The heroic spirit of women, the main role of the designs of the 2nd day of Gran Canaria Bridal Collection

2018-09-29

The designs of Culito From Spain, Oswaldo Machín, and Palmas paid homage to the heroic spirit of women, their fights and achievements in the 2nd day of Gran Canaria Bridal Collection, both those who already become legendary in the history and many other anonymous women that rebel against the established canons.

The creations of the brand from Tenerife, Culito From Spain, were the first that paraded this Friday at the Salón Dorado of the Gabinete Literario, which showed off a golden runway for the occasion. The collection, named ‘Mujeres que Cambiaron el Mundo’ was composed of around twenty proposals to make a wink to those who achieved great things in a wide range of fields.

For this reason, the dresses have the name of Marie Curie, Cleopatra, Teresa de Calcuta and Chanel, beside Amelia Earhart, the first woman that flew over the Atlantic, and Valentina Tereshkova, the first one in travelling into the space.

They highlighted by their fresh fabrics and the colours such as green combined with fuchsia, yellow and blue, while white served as the base of skirts, T-shirts, dressed, and accessories. Even tulles were the perfect accessories for the sleeves.

By his part, the designer of Lanzarote, Oswaldo Machín, presented the Bohemian Dreams collection with wedding gowns that were inspired by urban dreamer and bohemian women, who have fighting spirit and do not follow the established fashion standards.

On his designs, the glitter, the V, round and boat necks, transparencies on the back and on the sleeves predominated to highlight the feminine curves, and also steamy tissues in ruffle, bell-shaped, white-off and powder pink skirts.

The creator used tissues such as georgette crepe, mixed with plain and pleat muslin, along with knit lace that was the main characteristic of all the designs beside laces and crystals.

For grooms, Machín proposed classic suits and jackets with blue as the main colour and also garments in earth and grey tones, combined with linen with cotton shirts to bring them a youthful and fresh style to men.

Finally, Palmas also placed women in the centre of its creations was the responsible of closing the fashion show with the Champagne Rose collection, that was composed of 26 designs that, in addition to wedding gowns, included long and short evening dresses, and suits of jacket and trousers.

This designer of Gran Canaria Moda Cálida made a tour of the most emblematic creations of his career with materials and cuts that stood out in his beginnings 30 years ago, but adapted to the present time. Thus, he included satin and velvet ribbons or rock crystal with tissues if tulles, embroideries, organza, mikados and brocades.

Inspired by champagne bottles, that is where the collection gets its name, he chose colours like bottle green, black, and gold, along with Taittinger rose in his proposals, while the off-white was selected for his bridal dresses.

The President of the Cabildo Insular, Antonio Morales, and the Councillor of Moda Cálido, Minerva Alonso, both lauded the quality of the islander brand work, that every time has a greater approval on the part of the public. Thus, the islander Institution has taken a chance on their regional promotion and also outside the Archipelago.

Children and adults’ fashion, the final touch of the runway show

The final touch of the Bridal Collection runway show is coming this Saturday with the presentation of the children’s proposals for the wedding procession and the first communion, beside bride and ceremony proposals of the three brands.

El Corte Inglés will be the first in showing its children’s designs at 12:00 p.m., followed by the girls and boys’ proposals of It Child and MiMenina.

In the afternoon, it will be the turn of the new talents of Gran Canaria Moda Cálida: Vidina Romero, Lleó, Aday Batista and Beltho Couture; beside the brands of Isla Bonita Moda: Waleska, GMbyJe, Pomeline and Diazar.

Two consolidated designers of Gran Canaria Moda Cálida will close the show of Gran Canaria Bridal Collection at the incomparable setting of the Gabinete Literario. Lucas Balboa will first present ‘He Was Beautiful’ collection and then Aurelia Gil will display ‘Bridal Collection 2019’ with the collaboration of the men’s brand Roes.

The two brands, thus, will close three days of one of the most distinguished events of the Cabildo programme along with Swimwear Fashion Week, and Fashion & Friends. This time is to show the bridal, ceremony and first communion collections of the next year.

This edition discovers the last designs of islander hallmark in an environment that comes from the old private passes of the European ateliers thanks to the emblematic Salón Dorado of the Gabinete Literario.
