2019-10-03
Gran Canaria Swimwear Fashion Week 2019 hosted on its opening day the presentation of the Heineken New Talent Award given by the sponsor Heineken.
Throughout the fashion show, the fashion committee formed in this edition by the director of ACME, Pepa Bueno, the brand and communication strategy consultant Daniel Pérez-Barriga, the casting director of the Gran Canaria Swimwear Fashion Week and founder and director of Esma Proyectos, Esther García, and the director of the Swimwear Fashion Week and fashion catwalks of Ifema, Nuria de Miguel, took good note of the staging of the collections presented by the participating Canarian brands.
The award means a great media projection for the winning brand and allows the winner to travel to Paris with a companion to attend Première Vision, the largest event on the planet for professionals where the six largest industries supplying materials and service providers such as: yarns, fabrics, leathers, designs, accessories and manufacturing meet.
The Fashion Week talent contest aims to encourage the emergence of new values in design, a sector that is a powerful economic engine and job creation, not only in Gran Canaria but throughout the region. In the first edition, the award went to the members of Como la Trucha al Trucho Studio. In addition to this initiative, Heineken is the official sponsor, for the ninth consecutive year, of the Gran Canaria Moda Cálida catwalk.
The jury of the Heineken Award was composed of Modesto Lomba, president of the Asociación de Creadores de Moda España (ACME), Pepa Bueno, executive director of ACME and member of the MBFW Madrid Fashion Committee, Daniel Pérez Barriga, consultant and member of the MBFW Madrid Fashion Committee, Esther García, artistic and casting director ESMA, Andrés Aberasturi, founder and CEO of Pelonio and curator of the young creators' catwalk EGO, Nuria de Miguel, director of the Gran Canaria Moda Cálida 2019 Swimwear Fashion Week, and Araceli Díaz Santana, coordinator of the Gran Canaria Moda Cálida programme of the Cabildo de Gran Canaria.
The jury based its decision on the criteria of originality, creativity, innovation and adaptability to the market, as well as the quality of the clothing, to award the Heineken New Talent Award to Elena Morales.
This valuable award was presented by the Councillor for Industry and Commerce of the Cabildo de Gran Canaria, Minerva Alonso, the Island Director of Industry and Commerce, Juan Manuel Gabella, the director of the catwalk, Nuria de Miguel, and the Marketing Director of Heineken, Virginia Ladislao.
After the presentation of the II Heineken New Talent Award, the party continued in the Heineken 'Kissing Room', a space that, once again this year, has become the meeting point for designers, models, industry professionals, media and fashion fans.
