“Today we have closed a promotional action for the Gran Canaria Swimwear Fashion Week in 2024 that includes the participation of an American brand on the catwalk, as well as the assistance of the American press,” explained Minerva Alonso, Minister of Economic Development, Industry, Commerce and Crafts of the Cabildo of Gran Canaria, at the end of the meeting held this Wednesday in the south of the island with the representatives of the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) within the framework of the Gran Canaria Swim Week by Moda Warm that starts this Thursday at Expomeloneras.

“This agreement will allow us to have a direct connection with America, we will be the link with Europe and it will give value to our local firms, it will be a window for the designers of Gran Canaria, this will give them visibility in United States,” added the counselor.

For her part, Ali Rubin, head of alliances and development at the CFDA, stated that “for the Council of Fashion Designers of America it is a great pride and privilege to announce our collaboration with Gran Canaria Swim Week in 2024 in this year's shows. and together celebrate the creativity and innovation of fashion in Spain.” On the other hand, he added that they are going to “bring American designers, fashion press and influencers to Gran Canaria next year” with the aim of meeting “in this beautiful place to celebrate fashion and the designers of our communities.” Aldo Araujo, responsible for Marketing, Communication and Digital Strategy at the CFDA, also participated in this meeting.

The agreement reached, which is part of the internationalization plan developed in coordination with the Gran Canaria Chamber of Commerce, consists of mutual promotion, as well as the participation of American designers on the Gran Canaria catwalk. In addition, the US is committed to supporting the dissemination of GCSW23 in its digital, social, press, public relations, marketing channels specific to professionals in the sector and among its partners and influencers, among other actions. In this sense, it is worth noting that the Council of Fashion Designers of America has more than 500 professionals from the American fashion industry and organizes the official program of New York Fashion Week and has become the main strategist and advocate for the American fashion industry.

The CFDA is an institution recognized worldwide for its leadership in the US fashion industry. This entity has privileged access to a wide range of emerging and established designers and has an extensive network of contacts and relationships in the industry to international level, from which Gran Canaria can now benefit. Through its events and previous collaborations, it has established links with renowned designers, influencers and prestigious fashion editors. This extensive network is essential to increase the visibility and attraction of Gran Canaria Swim Week by Moda Cálida.
