The Councillor for Economic Development of the Cabildo has unveiled in Madrid the keys to the new edition 2024, whose ambassador will be the international top Stella Maxwell.
40 brands will participate: 23 from the Canary Islands (14 from Gran Canaria, 7 from La Palma, one from Lanzarote and one from Tenerife), 8 from the Spanish mainland, and 9 international brands.
The Cabildo de Gran Canaria presented today the keys to the next edition of Gran Canaria Swim Week, which will be held from 2 to 5 October 2024 at the Expomeloneras venue in Maspalomas (Gran Canaria).
The event was presented in Madrid by Minerva Alonso, Councillor for Economic Development, Industry, Trade and Crafts of the Cabildo de Gran Canaria on the terrace of the Rosewood Villa Magna hotel.
Gran Canaria Swim Week will bring together a total of 40 designers and brands in this edition, of which 23 are from the Canary Islands - 14 from Gran Canaria, 7 from La Palma, one from Lanzarote and one from Tenerife; 8 from the mainland, and 9 international, including American and European firms.
All of them will present their Spring Summer 2025 designs on the Canarian catwalk. The catwalk will be attended by the international top model Stella Maxwell as ambassador, and the model Valentina Ferrer. Both have 10.2 million followers on social networks.
Among the designers and firms confirmed for this edition are, among others, prestigious creators such as Aurelia Gil and Ágatha Ruiz de la Prada. On the other hand, among the participating firms there will be ten emerging talents. In this edition, in addition, the American firms Guess, Alejandra Alonso Rojas and Cinthia Rowley will be making their debut on the catwalk.
Gran Canaria Swim Week is a unique event in its category at European level, and is born of the firm commitment of the Cabildo de Gran Canaria to the fashion industry. With this new edition, the event reinforces its position as an international benchmark in swimwear fashion, and consolidates its position as the key event of its kind on the European catwalk circuit. The professionalisation of the catwalk, one of the pillars of the strategy carried out by the Cabildo de Gran Canaria to promote the event, is based on a programme of catwalk shows with prestigious names from the current design scene, both Canarian, national and international.
In the words of the Councillor for Economic Development, Minerva Alonso, ‘this year, from the 2nd to the 5th of October, our Swimwear Fashion Week, Gran Canaria Swim Week, will take place: a week that represents us, that represents our singularities, our customs, our culture and our landscape. A Swim Fashion Week that will once again be attended by important celebrities such as the international top stars Stella Maxwell and Valentina Ferrer; and with 40 swimwear brands, more than half of which will be from the Canary Islands’.
The councillor also highlighted some of the positive data from the last edition of GCSW, such as the more than two million views on social networks, a 10.255% ROI and a 6% increase in the number of companies linked to the sector in Gran Canaria from 2015 to 2022, as well as an 8.16% increase in direct employment.
Finally, the councillor thanked the collaboration of the Chamber of Commerce and ACME, as well as the presence of all the international and national firms that support the work of the local creators and the entire team of the island institution.
